Roux Method
Created by Gilles Roux — France | ~48 moves average | ~10% of top 100 competitors
Why Roux?
Roux has the lowest theoretical move count of any mainstream method (~48 STM). It relies heavily on intuition rather than algorithms, making it satisfying to master. The M-slice-heavy finish is unique and takes getting used to but eliminates regrips entirely.
1
First Block (FB)
Build a 1x2x3 block on the left side. No algorithms — pure intuition.
2
Second Block (SB)
Build a matching 1x2x3 block on the right side, while preserving FB.
3
CMLL — Corners of Last Layer
Orient and permute the 4 U-layer corners, ignoring M-slice edges. ~42 algorithms.
4
LSE — Last Six Edges
Solve the remaining 6 edges using only M and U moves. ~4 cases.
